Spreading Pawsitivity Profile: Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue

Spreading Pawsitivity is our monthly donation event through which we support local charities, many of them pet-related. We are proud of all the work that Asheville’s non-profits do, and we are excited to help support them!

This month’s event is Saturday, April 20th, 2019, and our Spreading Pawsitivity proceeds will go to Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue. This organization is dear to our hearts because it works to rescue, foster, and find forever homes for abandoned and abused animals throughout western North Carolina.

Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue has been at work since 2009. They are unique because their mission is to move pets out of shelters and into homes as quickly as possible. They partner with hundreds of volunteers in Buncombe, Transylvania, and Henderson counties to provide foster and forever homes for these pets.

We love CAAR’s creative work in our local communities. They partner with the Aloft hotel here in Asheville, which fosters one animal at a time to help find its future family.

They also work with Swannanoa Correctional Center in Black Mountain through a program called New Leash on Life, pairing two dogs at a time with inmates who learn to train them and get them ready for a new home. Working with the dogs gives the inmates a chance to learn practical skills, become certified as a trainer, and lessen the stress of prison life. The training helps the dogs to overcome negative behavior habits they may have and learn basic obedience skills to prepare for living with a new family.

CAAR operates completely on donations. They offer various ways to help, including kennel sponsorships for businesses or individuals, or in honor or memory of a loved one.

The programs at Charlie’s Angels are made possible through the efforts of volunteers, including foster families, helpers at Safe Haven (their shelter in Fletcher, NC), and creative people who help raise funds.

Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue puts on regular adoption and fundraising events at local venues. You can find out more at their events page. We encourage you to check out their wonderful work, and consider fostering or volunteering to help support their mission.

And come see us at the spa on Saturday, April 20th, for a walk-in bath and nail trim to support Charlie’s Angels!
